The Non-governmental Gender Organizations’ Coordinating Council (NGOCC) was established in 1985 to play a leadership and critical role in the promotion of women’s rights and empowerment of women in Zambia. As a network organization, NGOCC’s mandate is to coordinate and mobilize members in a more concerted manner for advocacy and capacity-building programs aimed at advancing gender equity and equality and the overall status of women in Zambia.
The disproportionate impacts of climate change results in varied response mechanisms between the women and the men across various regions of Zambia. Similarly, the adaptation to clean energy due to climate-induced energy crisis varies, depending on a myriad of factors including but not limited to socio-economic status and culture. Adaptation to clean energy is one of the sustainable means to counter the threat to natural resources. Poor responsive to the climate change and the use of clean energy, threatens to regress some of the milestones on human rights and posing significant risks on the socio-economic, health and safely of the poor socially women and girls.
Further, clean energy provides a mechanism to address the prevailing inequalities that have been exacerbated by limited and inaccessible energy options.
The objective of this consultancy is to conduct research on women’s adaptation to clean energy in Central Copperbelt, Eastern, Lusaka, Northwestern, Southern and Western provinces
