Company Description

SCORE Against Poverty Zambia is a community-driven, non-profit organisation committed to reducing poverty and advancing sustainable development across Zambia. The organisation works in partnership with communities to identify development priorities and implement practical, locally driven solutions to social, economic, and environmental challenges.

Its work spans key development areas, including education, youth development, gender equality, child protection, health and nutrition, agriculture and livelihoods, climate resilience, and disability inclusion. Guided by the principles of participation, equity, integrity, and empowerment, SCORE Against Poverty Zambia seeks to build resilient, self-reliant, and inclusive communities through sustainable, community-led development initiatives.

Role Description

The successful candidate will coordinate the implementation, monitoring, and learning activities of the Conservation Agriculture project, supporting farmers to adopt sustainable agricultural practices that improve soil health, enhance crop productivity, and strengthen household food security.

Key responsibilities include coordinating farmer training sessions and field demonstrations on Conservation Agriculture principles, mobilising farmers, and supporting the establishment and monitoring of demonstration plots. The coordinator will work closely with the Ministry of Agriculture, agricultural extension personnel, community leadership, and other stakeholders to provide technical support and promote the adoption of sustainable farming practices.

The role also involves monitoring farmer adoption of Conservation Agriculture practices, collecting and analysing project data, documenting progress, challenges and lessons learnt, and contributing to monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning (MEAL) processes. Additionally, the coordinator will prepare periodic activity reports, support project reporting to management and donors, and organise farmer meetings, field days, and learning sessions to encourage knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • A degree in Agriculture, Agricultural Extension, Sustainable Agriculture, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in farmer training, agricultural extension, or community-based agricultural development projects.
  • Sound knowledge of Conservation Agriculture principles and practices, particularly minimum soil disturbance, crop rotation, and maintaining soil cover.
  • Strong training, facilitation, and community mobilisation skills, with the ability to engage and support rural farming communities.
  • Good understanding of project monitoring, data collection, record-keeping, and reporting processes.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to document project activities, outcomes, challenges, and lessons learnt.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with government agricultural extension officers, community leaders, farmers, and other project stakeholders.
  • Strong organisational skills, integrity, accountability, and commitment to community development and sustainable agriculture.
