Background information about the job or company (e.g., role context, company overview)

Southern and Western Provinces of Zambia have long faced cyclical droughts. However, the 2023/2024 El Niño event has caused one of the most severe and prolonged dry spells in recent history. This has deepened existing vulnerabilities, particularly in rural districts where poverty is widespread and access to public infrastructure remains limited.

In response, Oxfam, with funding from Global Affairs Canada (GAC), is implementing the “Integrated Emergency Response for El Niño-Induced Drought Affected Communities in Zambia” project in partnership with Keepers Zambia Foundation (KZF) and Women for Change (WfC).

As part of its WASH interventions, the project will construct water-borne toilet blocks at selected institutions withing the project target areas.

Responsibilities or duties

The proposed intervention in general is to construct and connect toilet blocks to the already existing water system and ensure full functionality upon exit. The toilet structures will be constructed at the following institutions:

3.1 Western Province: Kabanda & Chitwa primary school in Kaoma district, Nomai primary school in Mongu district and one more institution to be communicated under Chilele ward of Kalabo district.

3.2 Southern Province: Sinazeze health care facility & Siakabamba primary school in Sinazongwe district, Ndema primary school in Namwala district and Mabwetuba primary school in Gwembe district.

Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)

The Bidder is required to submit the following:

  • Propose work and financial offer
  • Valid NCC category B or C
  • Valid ZPPA Certificate
  • Valid PACRA Registration
  • Valid TPIN
  • Workers’ Compensation
  • Company Profile with physical address
  • Valid EIZ registration License
  • Valid Tax Clearance certificate
  • Provision of brief method statement
  • Provision of 3 Months latest bank statements
  • Duration of project & Gant chat showing schedule of works
  • Proof of experience in similar works (Certifications of completion, award letters, Purchase orders etc).

Personnel, Experience and Equipment

  • Registered EIZ Civil engineer, Water engineer etc.
  • Structural engineers or related qualifications with diploma or degree added advantage with at least 2 years’ experience for supervision of work.
  • Plumber with at least 3 years’ experience
  • Electrician with at least 1 year’s experience (Solar specialized)
  • Own and reliable equipment

Any other provided details (e.g., benefits, work environment, team info, or additional notes)

The Bidder is encouraged to visit and examine the site and its surroundings and obtain for itself all information that may be necessary for preparing the bid. The costs of visiting the site shall be at the Bidder’s own expense, risk and responsibility.
