Reporting to the Superintendent – Rubber Tyred Vehicles (RTV), you will be responsible for planning and scheduling all maintenance and repair activities to ensure Heavy Mobile Equipment are safe, operational, and compliant by developing preventative maintenance schedules, coordinating repairs with technicians and vendors, managing parts inventory, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. 

Your duties will include but are not limited to the following:

  • Plan and schedule routine and preventive maintenance, as well as emergency repairs, for a fleet of rubber-tyred vehicles.
  • Oversee daily maintenance activities, schedule technicians, and coordinate work with other departments. 
  • Create and maintain accurate and detailed records of all maintenance activities, repairs, inspections, and vehicle histories.
  • Act as a liaison between maintenance and operations to align maintenance with production schedules and ensure operational needs are met.
  • Coordinate resources, manage parts and equipment with external contractors and vendors to ensure timely completion of projects.
  • Ensure personnel are adequately inducted in their work area and are aware of all workplace rules and critical procedures applying at LMC.
  • Actively contribute to site safety policy and new initiatives and implement change as directed by the General Manager and management team.
  • Actively promote, monitor and enforce compliance of personnel with safe work practices.
  • Ensure all incidents are reported and investigated according to Company policy and statutory requirements and all recommended corrective actions are completed.
  • Ensuring environmental risks of tasks are assessed and mitigated.
  • Adhering to environmental procedures to ensure good housekeeping, resource conservation, spill prevention and the appropriate disposal of waste.
  • Analyse equipment performance to identify opportunities to improve and maximise the performance of the assets.
  • Ensure that maintenance activities are managed efficiently with a view to cost and production, and in accordance with sound work management procedures.
  • Carry out routine and statutory inspections.
  • Carry out structured routine safety inspections in cooperation with field maintenance staff

To be considered for the position, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Full Grade Twelve School Certificate
  • Minimum Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical or other related Engineering field.
  • Significant 6 years experience in Heavy Earthmoving Equipment maintenance.
  • Member of the Engineering Institute of Zambia
  • Minimum of 5 years frontline supervisory experience.
  • Medium level of competency in the use of CMMS systems (e.g., SAP), MS office products (e.g., Word, Excel, Project, Power Point)
  • Holder of a valid Zambian driver’s license; will be an added advantage..
  • Must have excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
