Job Description

Lumwana Mining Company seeks to recruit highly motivated and committed employees for the position of Coordinator – Mine Roads to join the versatile Mining Team. We are in search of individuals who can champion Barrick's DNA by:

Reporting to the Superintendent – Mine Roads, you will be responsible for leading and managing crews that carry out operational work that assist the mining operations team to focus on meeting production targets.

Your duties will include but are not limited to the following:

  • Responsible for the crew performance of the roads operations team with regards to safety, health and production in line with LMC strategy.
  • Implementation of wet weather planning of haul road construction and maintenance.
  • Carry out workplace inspections and monitor employees and contractors
  • Recommend improvements to safe operating procedures
  • Develop continuous improvement strategies, communicate and apply accordingly.
  • Ensuring Supervisors are adequately advised and supported with information to enable the immediate work area to be managed appropriately in accordance with the governing statutory requirements.
  • Develop plans and coordinate the work plan for assigned works and responsibilities which may include road projects management, cost estimates and program development.
  • Coordinate work with other units, sections and site departments.
  • Coordinate the activities of applicable roads consultants and contractors.
  • Manage and control allocated ancillary equipment.
  • Ensure appropriate facilities, procedures and workforce competence to achieve legal compliance, incident prevention and the achievement of tasks in an environmentally sustainable manner.
  • Support the development and maintenance of up-to-date job procedures for all tasks performed within the function.

To be considered for the position, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Grade Twelve (12) School Certificate
  • Minimum Diploma in Civil Engineering, Mining Engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum of five (5) years' experience in the open pit mining industry
  • Experience in large multi pit operations utilizing large scale mining equipment, i.e. drill rigs and blasting experience essential.
  • Must be a member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ)
  • Competent in incident/accident investigation
  • Able to drive and should hold a valid driver's license.
