Vacancy title:
Corporate Relations Manager

Jobs at:
ALU

Deadline of this Job:

Duty Station:
Kigali, Rwanda

JOB DETAILS:
African Leadership University. We are looking for someone to work closely with our Student Placement Coordinator to ensure student engagement in preparation for the placement process. We need someone who will work with our Technology Developer to design an elegant placement process to connect the best talent to the best employers in a seamless light touch model. This person will work with the Head of Career Development to outline the strategy of how internship placements serve a larger strategic purpose with our learning team and business development team.

ABOUT THE TEAM
In re-imagining the future of tertiary education, we partner with top employers including McKinsey & Co, L’Oreal and Uber, to ensure our graduates are setup for success with relevant skills and a year of real work experience to launch into successful careers and leadership journeys after graduation.
In our first year, we placed 200+ internships across 30+ countries with 90 employers including IBM, Colgate Palmolive, and MTN. Our employers were so excited by the calibre of students we develop, that they asked us to launch corporate training courses which are a new revenue stream for ALU. With the launch of our new campus in Rwanda, we want to establish and deepen relationships with local employers to come on board as internship partners and contribute to student learning in innovative ways in and outside the classroom.

As we scale up our student body from 300 to 3000 over the next few years, we are looking for a systems-oriented senior relationship manager who will connect our young leaders to employers primarily in Rwanda by organizing and marketing events for employers in the country to come learn about ALU and our students.

ABOUT THE ROLE
In this role, you will drive the employer-student matching process by sourcing and managing employer partners, from the moment the employer first learns about ALU, to when a student accepts an offer to join the organisation.

While delivering on immediate internship and career placement targets, you will additionally need to think about how to strategically position and deepen our employer relationships in line with ALU’s larger goals. For example, in wanting to blur the lines between learning on campus and the real world, we have employers give our students 6 week long corporate challenges to work on as part of our Leadership Core Projects course.

On a day to day basis, you will work closely with our Student Delivery Lead who ensures student engagement in and preparation for the placement process, as well as our Global Corporate Relations Manager who oversees our partner management and the technology systems that support the placement process.

REQUIREMENTS

  • At least 5 years of B2B senior client management experience
  • Highly skilled in project management, negotiation and event management
  • Track record of being self-directed, organised, and systems driven
  • Familiar with CRM tools such as Salesforce
  • Essential to have written and oral language proficiency in French and English
