POSITION: Director of People and Culture

ITM Africa Ltd, an international company specializing in all HR solutions is currently supporting the recruitment of a Director of People and Culture on behalf of IREMBO, a technology company that designs and develops digital products focused on users in Africa, starting with Rwanda. IremboGov, Irembo’s pioneer product, is a government services platform. To date, it has 4.3M users in Rwanda and offers over 85 services online. Irembo is using this experience to develop a wide range of products that will transform the tech ecosystem as we know it.

ROLE

The Director of People & Culture will lead the charge in building an outstanding work environment that allows the team to thrive and do extraordinary work – from planning fun company events to implementing new hiring strategies, designing the best employee benefits package to making sure the office is running as efficiently as possible.

What you will do:

  • Collaborate as a member of the leadership team to map talent strategy to business strategy. Strategic vision — ability to see where the business is headed and develop programs proactively to make sure our team is able to deliver.
  • Manage the hiring process and ensure that Irembo is an employer of choice in our field.
  • Promote a progressive culture, champion and grow of Irembo’s company culture, help the team continually live our values through effective programs and internal communications to promote morale and achieve our goals.
  • Enhance the talent-management process including recruiting, on boarding, performance management, team development, retention, and succession.
  • Create progressive and proactive compensation and benefits programs to motivate, incentivize and reward performance. Partner with the leadership team and lead the implementation of high-performance systems, including OKRs, 360-degree reviews.
  • Be a thought leader for managers on organizational and people related matters.
  • Lead the development of an office and physical environment that supports and drives performance, collaboration and supports the company’s values

  • You have a successful track record of building and delivering talent acquisition and people programs from the ground up in a fast-growing organization.
  • You are a People person, easy to talk to with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • You have a genuine desire to help people grow.
  • You have a strong understanding of progressive company cultures and knowledge of industry best practices.
  • You are open-minded; can listen and are assertive; can firmly share your perspective.
  • You have a keen eye for spotting inefficiency. We love to improve ourselves and our processes and we know there are many that can be 100x better!
  • You are highly organized and can drive routine processes (e.g. employee appraisals) and new tasks (e.g. revision of benefits packages) with ease and quality.
  • You are versatile and have diverse perspectives to advise other department leads to better management skills and create workshops to teach various human management principles.
  • You have a deep network in the industry to tap into expertise in compensation, benefits, and human resources policies and procedures.
  • You have 5 years’ experience in HR in a growing organization.
  • You are fluent in English, and Kinyarwanda
  • You hold a B.A. or /B.S. degree in a relevant field and additional evidence that you love learning. (MBA is an added advantage)
