 Main Purpose for the Positions

The overall aim of the Positions is to increase learning opportunities for marginalized children especially girls and children with disabilities. The District Coordinator will be responsible for facilitating the overall planning, implementation and monitoring of all project activities and ensure direct liaison with various key Government Ministries and other partners. The position is also responsible for promoting the Mission and Vision of the Zambia Open Community Schools (ZOCS) Strategic Plan and actively participate in education and development related meetings at district level.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate planning, implementation and monitoring of project activities in Community Schools of the District.
  • Coordinate meetings with stakeholders (Ministries of General Education, Health, Agriculture, Community Development and Social Welfare)
  • Collaborate with the DEBS Office in the design of the Teacher Training Programme in pedagogical skills and use of ICT.
  • Ensure teaching and learning materials are procured and distributed to Community Schools
  • Managing the project budget in conjunction with Project Manager to ensure transparency and accountability in the use of resources
  • Collaborate with the Project Manager in the design and implementation of community sensitisation meetings, trainings for PCSC in School Governance, Management and Accountability, District Advocacy Committee (DAC), Community Action Groups (CAGs).
  • Coordinate identification, verification and monitoring of learners and volunteer teachers on the bursary programme
  • Collaborating with the Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) team in undertaking need assessments to identify beneficiary needs. 
  • Produce activity reports and tracking of project deliverables against the set indicators.
  • Perform any other tasks assigned by the Supervisor.

Qualifications / Professional Experience

Education

  • University degree in Education or any other related social science field

Experience

  • At least threes of active field experience.
  • Team Player with very good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Very good analytical and report writing skills.
  • Ability to work with a variety of people.
  • Donor liaison experience an advantage.
  • Must have good community engagement and partner management skills.
  • Able to work effectively with minimum supervision
  • NGO experience desirable
  • Ability to ride with a motorbike with a valid Class C licence is essential.
  • Licensed motorbike rider
  • Must be willing to spend more time in rural parts of Zambia supporting community schools.
  • Must be a Zambian and resident of Masaiti district.
