Background

Undikumbukire Project (UP) Zambia is a charitable human rights organization supporting vulnerable children in conflict with the law with free legal representation, social services and advocacy for justice system transformation.

Through its ongoing Mobile Courts Project, supported by the Embassy of Ireland, UP Zambia works with justice-sector partners to bring court services closer to correctional facilities and improve the efficient delivery of justice. To support this work, UP Zambia is seeking to recruit a Driver who will provide safe, reliable, and professional transport and logistical support to the organization in the implementation of its activities.

Position Summary

The Driver is responsible for providing safe, reliable, and punctual transportation services for staff, clients, and visitors. The role also involves maintaining assigned vehicles in roadworthy condition, supporting administrative and logistical needs, and ensuring full compliance with organizational and legal requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely transport staff, clients, and materials to designated locations on time.
  • Support logistical needs during events, workshops, and field activities.
  • Maintain vehicle cleanliness, safety, and service schedules.
  • Monitor fuel levels and perform routine vehicle checks.
  • Keep accurate records of mileage, fuel use, and trips.
  • Ensure compliance with vehicle policies and statutory requirements (insurance, registration, road tax).
  • Enforce safety protocols.
  • Respond effectively to emergencies and provide basic first aid when needed.
  • Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and courteous conduct at all times.

Required Qualifications/Attributes

  • Full grade 12 certificate.
  • Valid driver’s license (PSV).
  • Ability to drive manual transmission.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ driving experience.
  • Knowledge of road traffic rules and safe driving practises.
  • Basic vehicle maintenance and fault identification skills.
  • Good spoken and written English and Nyanja/Bemba.
  • Honest, flexible and reliable.
