Position Overview
The Driver – Special Projects & Executive Support plays a critical role in supporting the CEO and Chief Business Development Officer with dedicated transportation and project-related support. This role requires a highly dependable individual who combines excellent driving skills with the ability to think independently, conduct basic logistics tasks, and provide trusted support in the field.
While this is a driver position, the role is intentionally broader than vehicle operation alone. The successful candidate will be expected to assist with errands, special project execution, and minor procurement support, while demonstrating discretion, maturity, and full compliance with safety and administrative systems.
Key Responsibilities
Driving & Vehicle Care
- Drive the CEO, CBDO, and other assigned staff as scheduled.
- Conduct daily vehicle checks (tyres, lights, oil, water, battery, brakes) and record in the logbook before each trip.
- Maintain and update vehicle logbooks and fuel usage logbooks without fail.
- Take full accountability for fuel purchases, submitting all receipts and reporting any discrepancies.
- Keep assigned vehicle clean, roadworthy, serviced on time, licensed, and insured.
- Notify the supervisor at least 30 days in advance of license, insurance, or service due dates.
- Carry out basic maintenance such as tyre or bulb changes and escalate mechanical issues promptly.
Special Projects & Errands
- Support special projects under direction from the CEO and CBDO, including pickups, deliveries, event logistics, and site visits.
- Carry out minor procurement and run time-sensitive errands with integrity and accurate documentation.
- Act as a reliable field contact representing the company where needed.
Compliance, Safety & Conduct
- Ensure full compliance with Zambian traffic laws, ECS transport policies, and road safety protocols.
- Handle police interactions legally, respectfully, and with proper documentation.
- Report all accidents, breakdowns, or traffic incidents immediately.
- Maintain complete honesty and discretion in all tasks — zero tolerance for fraud or misuse of company resources.
General Support
- Support other departments with driving, logistics, and errands when available.
- Communicate clearly and respectfully with all team members.
- Take initiative and demonstrate flexibility with changing tasks and schedules.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Valid and current Zambian Driver’s Licence (Class C or higher)
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a professional driving role
- Proven history of safe driving and sound judgment
- Basic understanding of vehicle maintenance
- Strong verbal communication in English
- Able to use smartphones for navigation (e.g., Google Maps) and basic communication apps
- High levels of integrity, trustworthiness, and initiative
