The Electrical Expert is responsible for advanced electrical installation, maintenance, and commissioning activities on the Lumwana Expansion Project. This role requires a recognised Red Seal Electrician qualification and ensures that all electrical works meet project specifications, international standards, and both South African and Zambian statutory safety regulations. The Electrical Expert contributes to safe, reliable, and efficient project delivery while mentoring junior staff.

Minimum Requirements

1. Trade Certification & Professional Standing

Red Seal Electrician (Trade Tested) under:
Manpower Training Act – Section 13, or
Skills Development Act – Section 26D
Recognised by the National Bargaining Council for the Electrical Industry (NBCEI) and National Artisan Moderation Body (NAMB)
2. Experience

Minimum 5 years’ post-trade practical experience in industrial, commercial, or mining electrical works
Proven skills in installations and maintenance aligned with SANS 10142-1, ZABS ZS 374, and IEC standards
Prior experience on cross-border or international projects advantageous

Key Responsibilities

Install, test, repair, and commission LV and MV electrical systems in compliance with SANS, ZABS, and IEC standards
Diagnose and repair electrical faults using approved test equipment and safe working practices
Accurately read, interpret, and apply electrical drawings, schematics, and technical layouts
Install and maintain distribution boards, isolators, protection systems, motors, cable trays, and lighting systems
Ensure strict compliance with:
NBCEI employment and working conditions
South African and Zambian statutory labour and safety laws
OHS Act (RSA) and Factories Act (Zambia)
Complete job cards, inspection reports, and compliance documentation with accuracy and timeliness
Mentor and guide assistants/junior electricians in safe working procedures and technical practices
Participate in toolbox talks, risk assessments, and safety briefings as part of the site HSE framework
Liaise with ZESCO and other utility providers for inspections, approvals, and grid connection activities

Skills & Competencies

Expert knowledge of electrical safety systems, hazard control, and lockout/tagout procedures
Strong understanding of South African (SANS, OHS Act) and Zambian (ZABS, Factories Act) regulations, as well as IEC standards
High attention to detail with a focus on quality workmanship and system reliability
Ability to work independently and lead small project teams effectively
Strong communication, coordination, and documentation abilities
Commitment to maintaining a strong safety culture and ensuring high-performance project outcomes

Working Conditions

Work may involve confined spaces, heights, and high-temperature or dusty environments
Full PPE compliance and strict adherence to company and statutory safety regulations are mandatory
