Eastern Tropical Fruit Company Limited (ETF) is jointly owned by Zambia Fruit Company and Vitaplus Foods Limited, under the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC). The Company operates a hybrid fruit and vegetable processing plant located in Katete District, Eastern Province of Zambia.
Role Overview:
The Electrician will be responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems and equipment to ensure safe and efficient production operations in accordance with applicable standards. The role will involve performing routine electrical inspections, diagnosing faults, adjusting control systems, and ensuring compliance with electrical codes and safety protocols. Additionally, the position will entail maintaining accurate records of electrical work, collaborating with production and maintenance teams, and supporting continuous improvement efforts to enhance plant reliability and operational efficiency.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures in compliance with electrical codes and company policies.
- Conduct preventive maintenance on electrical systems, switchgear, control panels, and production equipment.
- Diagnose electrical faults and malfunctions in machinery, lighting, and power systems.
- Replace faulty wiring, circuit breakers, fuses, and other electrical components as required.
- Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns to minimize production downtime
- Collaborate with Maintenance and Production teams to resolve recurring electrical issues.
- Perform electrical testing and calibration on control systems, motors, and sensors
- Ensure instrumentation and safety systems function reliably and within specifications.
- Maintain accurate records of electrical maintenance, installations, and fault reports.
- Ensure compliance with electrical safety procedures, grounding, circuit protection, and labelling standards.
- Participate in safety drills, risk assessments, and inspections to maintain a safe working environment.
- Support audit readiness through proper documentation of electrical activities.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
- Grade 12 Certificate with five (5) O Levels.
- Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Power, or a related field from a recognized institution.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in industrial or plant electrical maintenance, preferably in a manufacturing or food processing environment.
- Proven experience with installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of motors, control panels, VFDs, and PLCs.
- Membership with a recognized professional regulatory body (e.g Engineering Institution of Zambia)
- Proven experience in troubleshooting and repairing industrial electrical systems.
