Position Overview: Electromechanical Technician (Generators, Pumps & Motors)
This full-time role offers an immediate start for a proactive Electromechanical Technician who excels in diagnosing and repairing a range of electromechanical equipment. The successful candidate will demonstrate expertise in maintaining diesel and petrol generators, various types of water pumps, and electric motors, ensuring optimal operational performance for our clients.
Key Responsibilities for Electromechanical Technician Jobs in Lusaka
- Diagnose and repair diesel and petrol generators ranging from 1kVA to 100kVA, addressing issues such as engine starting failures, lack of power output, AVR malfunctions, voltage or frequency instability, fuel system faults, and alternator problems.
- Troubleshoot and service centrifugal, borehole, and booster water pumps, including resolving motor seizures, capacitor failures, pressure switch defects, mechanical seal replacements, and impeller damage.
- Conduct repairs on single-phase and three-phase electric motors, including winding testing, bearing replacement, capacitor verification, and resetting thermal overload devices.
- Perform mechanical maintenance tasks such as belt alignment, coupling replacement, shaft straightening, and lubrication to ensure reliable equipment operation.
- Utilize diagnostic instruments including multimeters, clamp meters, megohmmeters, tachometers, pressure gauges, and dial gauges to accurately assess equipment condition.
- Interpret mechanical and electrical schematics related to generators and pump control panels to facilitate effective troubleshooting and repairs.
- Prepare detailed service reports and maintain preventive maintenance logs to support operational integrity and client satisfaction.
Qualifications and Experience Required
- Certificate or Diploma in Electromechanical Technology, Electromechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering with a strong mechanical focus.
- Three to five years of practical experience repairing generators, pumps, and electric motors.
- Capability to work effectively both on-site and within workshop environments.
