Job Description
JOB PURPOSE
To assist the project Manager, carry out efficient continuous material handling and management is done incident free throughout the project duration.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Operate an excavator efficiently to free-dig, load, move, and manage materials as required.
- Conduct daily pre-start checks, basic maintenance and report any mechanical issues on the machine (excavator).
- Adhere to workplace health, safety, and environment (HSE) standards and report hazards or incidents immediately.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and operational procedures.
- Assist in general site work, including clearing debris, constructing haul roads and levelling surfaces.
- Maintain accurate records of equipment usage and maintenance.
- Work alongside surveyors, site engineers, and other plant operators to maintain project timelines.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Must be willing to work in shifts, including weekends if necessary.
Skills and competencies
- Good communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and safety-conscious mindset.
- Physically fit to handle the demands of the job.
- Problem-solving skills and ability to make quick decisions.
- Good team player and able to coordinate work with minimum supervision.
Working Environment
Job holder is exposed to project site working environment in remote locations. Job holder will be stationed at the Rufunsa mining project site or any assigned site
Job Requirements
- Grade 12 Certificate
- Valid Excavators Operating Certificate/Licence.
- Familiarity with mining workplace safety protocols and procedures.
- Knowledge of basic excavator maintenance and troubleshooting.
