Job Summary:
Truckmec Zambia Ltd, a leading industrial service provider based in the Light Industrial Area of Kitwe, is seeking skilled Excavator Operators to join our team at the Kalumbia site. The Excavator Operators will be responsible for operating heavy machinery to support mining and construction activities, ensuring safety, efficiency, and precision in all tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate excavators to perform digging, loading, and material handling tasks in a mining environment.
- Conduct pre-operation inspections of the excavator to ensure it is in good working condition.
- Follow project plans and instructions from site supervisors to meet operational goals.
- Ensure safe operation of the excavator, adhering to all safety protocols and regulations.
- Perform basic maintenance and report any mechanical issues to the maintenance team.
- Work collaboratively with other operators and site personnel to maintain workflow efficiency.
- Monitor site conditions, such as soil stability and weather, to adjust operations as needed.
- Maintain accurate logs of daily activities, including hours worked and materials moved.
- Assist with other site tasks as required, ensuring flexibility in a dynamic work environment.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience operating excavators in a mining or construction environment.
- Valid silicosis certification, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards in mining.
- Operating certificate and competency certificate for excavators from a recognized institution.
- Strong understanding of mining site operations and safety protocols.
- Ability to work in physically demanding conditions, including long shifts and varying weather.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and precision in operating heavy machinery.
- Good communication skills to coordinate with site teams and supervisors.
- Must be based in or willing to relocate to Kitwe, Copperbelt Province.
