The Electoral Commission of Zambia seeks to recruit two (02) qualified and experienced Zambian citizen to fill the vacant position of Fork Lifter Operator for a period of twelve (12) months.
PURPOSE OF THE JOB
To provide efficient material handling services through the safe operation of forklift equipment, ensuring the timely movement, storage, and distribution of goods and materials in accordance with established operational and safety procedures.
REPORTING ACCOUNTABILITY
The Fork Lifters will report to the Stores Controller.
Responsibilities or duties
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Operate forklifts and related lifting equipment safely and efficiently.
- Transport materials, products, and supplies to designated locations.
- Load and unload trucks, containers, and storage areas.
- Perform daily pre-operational equipment inspections.
- Report equipment defects, accidents, and safety hazards.
- Maintain accurate records of materials moved and equipment usage.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and safety regulations.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Grade 12 School Certificate or equivalent.
- Valid Forklift Operator Certificate/Licence from a recognized training institution.
- Knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations and safe forklift operating procedures.
- Physically fit and able to work in demanding environments.
- Ability to conduct routine inspections and basic maintenance checks on forklift equipment.
- Good communication and record-keeping skills.
KEY COMPETENCIES
- Ability to safely load, unload, move, stack and store materials.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in handling goods.
- Ability to interpret work instructions and inventory documentation.
- Good teamwork and interpersonal skills.
- High level of responsibility and adherence to safety standards.
Experience needed
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience operating forklifts in a warehouse, manufacturing, mining, logistics, or similar environment.
- Operate forklifts and related lifting equipment safely and efficiently.
