JOB DETAILS:
To optimize ore extraction through accurate geological interpretation, stope design, and grade control while ensuring operational safety and minimal dilution in underground mining operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Geological Modelling & Mine Planning:
• Interpret geological data to advise on short/long-term production planning
• Design stopes and estimate ore grades using Surpac software
• Monitor stope performance through systematic sampling protocols
Field Operations & Sampling:
• Supervise underground channel sampling programs
• Conduct diamond drill core logging and sampling
• Implement QA/QC procedures for sample collection
• Map geological structures and lithological units
Data Management:
• Maintain acQuire geological database integrity
• Oversee plan/section updates by geology draughtsman
• Prepare accurate month-end geological reports
Drilling Programs:
• Assist in diamond drill hole planning and design
• Monitor contractor drilling programs
• Validate drilling data accuracy
Water Management:
• Support mine dewatering operations
• Monitor underground water levels and quality
Team Leadership:
• Train and mentor junior geological staff
• Maintain section discipline and productivity
• Represent geology in production meetings when required
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education & Certification:
✓ Grade 12 Certificate (ZAQA verified)
✓ BSc in Geology (ZAQA verified)
✓ GSZ/EIZ membership
Technical Competencies:
• Surpac mining software proficiency
• Geological database management
• Structural mapping techniques
Experience:
• 1+ years production geology in mining
• Grade control system implementation
• Underground mining environment exposure
CORE SKILLS:
• Analytical interpretation
• Technical reporting
• Team supervision
