Right to Care Zambia is seeking to recruit two (2) HIV/TB Hub Medical Mentors. This is a readvertised position.

Responsibilities or duties

Serve as liaison between the District Health Office (DHO), Action HIV program, health facilities, and other implementing partners/stakeholders on HIV/TB mentorship activities. Support MoH program officers at provincial and district levels in coordinating HIV/TB services and monitoring program performance. Participate in HIV prevention activities including PrEP, CaCx screening and treatment, VMMC, eMTCT, TB prevention, and adolescent/childhood HIV care. Provide mentorship to clinical teams supporting patients with non-communicable diseases and nutrition needs. Support efforts aimed at scaling up differentiated service delivery models. Coordinate and provide updates at HIV/TB technical and clinical meetings at district and facility levels. Identify capacity gaps and conduct trainings/orientations in HIV/TB for both community and facility-based staff. Participate in HIV/TB quality improvement initiatives and document evidence-based best practices. Conduct timely and frequent site-level performance assessments with focus on high-impact sites. Participate in provincial program performance assessments, monitoring visits, and support sites in developing and implementing remedial actions. Provide targeted, evidence-based clinical mentorship for adult and pediatric HIV/TB and PMTCT services. Provide technical supervision for clinical management of opportunistic infections, TB, HIV, PMTCT, VMMC pre- and post-operative care. Coordinate the TeleECHO program to support adult/pediatric ART care, PMTCT, VMMC, TB, and CaCx services. Provide technical support to facility and community teams to improve access to care, case identification, retention, and treatment outcomes including viral load suppression. Support establishment and improvement of patient flow systems, infection control practices, and SOP implementation at supported facilities. Strengthen referral systems for HIV and TB patients between communities and facilities, including patient tracking and feedback mechanisms. Support facilities with low compliance scores and guide the development of corrective action plans. Work with facility teams to improve phlebotomy techniques, specimen handling, labeling, storage, and laboratory logistics. Collaborate with pharmacy personnel to ensure uninterrupted supply of essential commodities. Compile weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual, and ad-hoc reports using approved formats.

Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)

Grade Twelve (12) School Certificate. Fully qualified Medical Doctor from a reputable institution. Registered with the Health Professions Council of Zambia with a valid practicing license. Computer literate, with high competency in using Microsoft office applications. Must have a strong understanding of the reporting hierarchy at all levels of service delivery; and Good proficiency in oral and written English as well as interpersonal skills.

Experience needed

At least Five (5) years of relevant work experience in the field of HIV/TB control activities, supervisory experience at health facility or district level will be an added advantage. Basic training in HIV/TB, HIV management for both adults and paediatrics and/or PMTCT. Must have experience in PEPFAR supported HIV/TB activities.
