Job Purpose
To maintain, service, and repair light trucks and related vehicles to ensure roadworthiness, safety, and operational efficiency in line with company and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance, servicing, and inspections on light trucks (e.g., oil changes, brake checks, tire rotations, etc.)
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults and carry out repairs efficiently.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and report defects.
- Replace and repair worn or damaged parts such as clutches, brakes, bearings, steering, suspension, and electrical systems.
- Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records for each vehicle.
- Ensure all work is done in compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards.
- Test drive vehicles after repairs to verify performance and resolution of faults.
- Respond to on-road vehicle breakdowns and perform necessary repairs.
- Recommend parts, tools, or services required for repairs and preventive maintenance.
- Collaborate with the procurement department to ensure timely availability of spares.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the workshop and tools.
- Provide feedback to the fleet manager on recurring issues or vehicle replacement needs.
Qualifications & Experience
- Certificate or Diploma in Automotive Mechanics, Heavy Equipment Repair, or related field.
- Minimum 3 years experience working with light trucks or commercial vehicles.
- Valid driver’s license (preferably Class C or above).
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, diagnostics, and electronic components.
- Experience with both petrol and diesel engine systems.

- Attention to detail and safety-conscious
- Good physical condition and manual dexterity
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Time management and problem-solving skills
- Good communication and reporting skills
Working Conditions
- Workshop-based with occasional field repairs
- May be required to work overtime or weekends as needed
- Exposure to noise, grease, fumes, and varying weather conditions
