Position Summary

Mika Convention Centre is seeking a qualified and experienced IT Officer to oversee the day-to-day support of all IT systems, business systems, office systems, computer networks, and telephone systems throughout the hotel. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of all technology-related services and providing technical support to staff and guests where required.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain and support all hotel IT systems, networks, servers, and communication systems.
  • Respond courteously and efficiently to technical queries and system-related issues from guests and staff.
  • Ensure cleanliness and proper maintenance of all data equipment and computer rooms.
  • Coordinate and manage vendors for Guest Internet, Property Management Systems (PMS), Point of Sale (POS) systems, telephone systems, and other software applications.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network-related problems effectively.
  • Oversee network configuration, servers, workstations, networking equipment, PABX systems, and email accounts.
  • Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for system and network issues.
  • Manage network infrastructure including CAT5/6 cabling, wireless networks, WAN/LAN, domain controllers, Active Directory, firewalls, and VPN applications.
  • Monitor system performance using profiling and monitoring tools.
  • Prepare and implement preventive maintenance schedules for all IT hardware and software.
  • Ensure regular backups and oversee disaster recovery processes.
  • Install, configure, and maintain anti-virus and security systems.
  • Maintain proper inventory of hardware, software licenses, and maintenance agreements.
  • Ensure implementation of IT security policies and conduct regular staff awareness training.
  • Ensure compliance with PCI and other relevant IT operational procedures.
  • Maintain system error and progress logs and resolve reported issues promptly.
  • Keep updated with emerging hotel technologies and IT security risks.
  • Perform any other IT-related duties assigned by Management.

Requirements

  • Diploma or Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. CCNA
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role, preferably in the hospitality industry.
  • Experience with hotel management systems and POS systems will be an added advantage.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays when required.
  • Must be self-motivated, reliable, responsible, and able to work with minimum supervision.
