ROLE PURPOSE:
To provide strategic legal support across the company’s energy operations, ensuring compliance, managing legal risk, and supporting project development, contracts, and regulatory matters in line with industry requirements.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Description
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of contracts related to power trading, metering, generation, storage, transmission, and distribution, and wheeling (e.g., EPC contracts, PPAs, PSAs, wheeling agreements, O&M agreements, JV agreements).
- Prepare and review Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs) and other confidentiality arrangements with partners, contractors, and stakeholders.
- Provide legal advice on regulatory compliance, licensing, environmental laws, and government policies affecting the electricity and energy sector.
- Support the company in bidding processes, tenders, and commercial transactions.
- Advise on matters of corporate law, including corporate governance and compliance with applicable corporate regulations.
- Conduct preliminary legal due diligence and risk analysis in relation to potential acquisitions of real estate and companies (M&A)
- Handle disputes, litigation, and arbitration matters in coordination with external counsel.
- Advise senior management on risk exposure, contractual obligations, and legal implications of business decisions.
- Stay updated on industry-specific laws, regulations

- The Job Holder must be able to handle a fast-paced environment without getting deviated

Internal:
All Departments: Day to Day Basis in order to ensure smooth flow of operation on an administrative level.
External:
Visitors: Day to Day basis.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Qualifications and Knowledge:
- Bachelor of Laws (LLB); Member of the Law association of Zambia with valid practicing certificate.
- At least 3 years post-qualification experience, ideally within the energy sector.
- Strong understanding of Zambian energy laws, regulatory frameworks, and commercial law.
- Experience working on project finance, corporate transactions, and regulatory compliance.
