Position Title: Infectious Disease Specialist
Grade: FSN-11; Annual Gross Salary: 28,111,579 to 45,469,777 FRW (FSN-11, Steps 1-14)
Location: Kigali, Rwanda
USAID/Rwanda seeks an Ordinarily Resident individual with the required work authorization for employment as a Project Management Specialist (Infectious Disease). BASIC FUNCTION OF THE POSITION
The Infectious Disease Specialist will serve as an activity manager for the malaria and Emerging Pandemic Threats-2 (EPT-2) programs operating in Rwanda. The incumbent will coordinate implementing partner activities in Rwanda and work with various U.S. government (USG) agencies, as well as Rwandan ministries, district health offices, laboratories, international organizations, non-governmental organizations, and implementing partners to achieve the President’s Malaria Initiative (PMI), EPT-2, and Global Health Security Agenda (GHSA) objectives, ensuring that USAID programs are aligned with host government plans and priorities. The incumbent will ensure that the Mission’s planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting is carried out in accordance with USAID directives. The incumbent must possess technical expertise in the area of malaria and infectious disease as well as possess an understanding of the social, economic and cultural determinants and implications of its proliferation in the region. The incumbent will have the experience and skill required to help formulate the USG position on malaria and infectious disease as well as to contribute to important policy decisions as a key USAID/Rwanda representative.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Education: Master’s degree or equivalent post-degree qualification in disciplines such as medicine, public health, international development or social sciences from a recognized institution.
  • Prior Work Experience: A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible professional experience in health, including malaria and other infectious disease program design and implementation with specific experience working on malaria issues. Experience should demonstrate ability to manage high-level coordination and relationships with public sector entities, bilateral and multilateral donors and non-government organizations.
  • Language Proficiency: Level IV fluency (speaking/reading/writing) in English and Kinyarwanda are required. English proficiency will be tested.
