LIAS University College has over 10 years of experience in training Health professionals at Diploma level and now Degrees. Library Management and Leadership

  • Develops and implements the library’s strategic plan in alignment with the College’s mission and goals.
  • Ensures the efficient and effective operation of all library services, including circulation, reference, and digital resources.

Supervision of Information Technology and Digital Services

  • Oversees the development and implementation of the library’s technology infrastructure.
  • Manages the library’s website and online resources.
  • Promotes the use of technology to enhance library services and user experience.
  • Stays current with emerging technologies and their applications in libraries.

Library Facilities and Operations

  • Oversees the physical facilities and operations of the library, including space planning, equipment maintenance, and security.
  • Ensures a safe and welcoming environment for library users.
  • Develops and implements library policies and procedures.

Collection Development and Management

  • Develops and implements collection development policies and procedures.
  • Selects, acquires, and manages the library’s print and electronic collections to support the curriculum and research needs of the College community.
  • Ensures the preservation and conservation of the library’s collections.

QUALIFICATION

  • Grade 12 Certificate or equivalent
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Library and Information Science
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience of which at least 2 years must be in Library Administration
  • Demonstrated Leadership and Management Skills
  • Strong Knowledge of Library Automation Systems and Technologies
  • Excellent Communication and Interpersonal Skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with staff and students

  • Strong organizational and planning skills
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Knowledge of copyright and intellectual property law
  • Proficiency in library automation systems and databases
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations
