Job Description

  • Build and manage internal relationships with key stakeholders within the Bank to resolve complex issues and deliver high performance cost, service and quality outcomes.
  • Build organisational capabilities through evaluating likely future requirements and ensuring that individuals are provided with the best possible development opportunities.
  • Design and establish performance standards and evaluation processes to assess and report on vendor management activity in terms of progress, results, customer satisfaction, value and cost.
  • Develop and maintain open communication with direct reports and the broader procurement fraternity to foster greater co-operation and teamwork. Monitor and manage the performance and development of the vendor management team; ensuring regular one-on-one feedback sessions, conducting mid-year and final performance appraisals, as well as the moderation and relative distribution of all appraisals for the team.
  • Develop the analytics infrastructure to provide accurate spend information as required by procurement teams and stakeholders.
  • Drive efficiencies in the SBG procurement strategies, policies and processes incorporating local legislative requirements, digitisation and applying business insights and objectives ensuring procurement remains regionally relevant.
  • Drive the automation of procurement processes to automate the vendor contract management end-to-end process and reporting aligned to the procurement mandate.
  • Establish mechanisms to ensure supplier relationships are effectively governed both within and outside of the procurement function.
  • Lead implementation of the Standard Bank Group (SBG) procurement policies and procedures ensuring a consistent and standardised approach to vendor management.
  • Partner with People & Culture to build expertise within the team and to foster an environment in which learning, and development are emphasised and valued.
  • Provide leadership and direction to direct report to achieve a high-level of performance in procurement and deliver high quality advice and service to stakeholders.
  • Responsible for the vendor management team ensuring the team serves as an internal consultant on techniques and actions to manage vendor risk.
  • Responsible for third party risk management and SBG Procurement frameworks ensuring the Bank’s teams and vendor management team consistently and effectively partner to conduct risk assessments using established processes and frameworks.
  • Subject matter expert and serve as an internal consultant on highly complex projects and relationships ensuring the needs of the business are met.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in either:
    • Procurement & Supply Chain Management
    • Purchasing & Supply
    • Business Administration / Commerce
    • Logistics or related field
