Position Summary

Our client is looking for a competent and reliable Mechanic to support the inspection, maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of vehicles used in taxi, car rental, and fleet operations.

The ideal candidate must be practical, disciplined, and able to work in a fast-paced fleet environment where vehicle uptime, safety, and cost control are critical.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect vehicles and identify mechanical faults.
  • Diagnose engine, suspension, braking, cooling, electrical, and general mechanical issues.
  • Carry out routine servicing and preventive maintenance.
  • Perform minor and major repairs where required.
  • Prepare clear vehicle inspection reports.
  • Advise management on required repairs, parts, and estimated costs.
  • Ensure repaired vehicles are safe, roadworthy, and ready for operations.
  • Monitor vehicles for recurring faults and recommend preventive action.
  • Work with drivers, fleet officers, and management to reduce vehicle downtime.
  • Maintain proper records of repairs, inspections, and parts used.

Minimum Requirements

  • A certificate in automotive mechanics or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of practical experience as a mechanic.
  • Good knowledge of Japanese vehicles, especially compact cars used in taxi operations.
  • Ability to diagnose faults accurately.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet repair deadlines.
  • Honest, disciplined, and detail-oriented.
  • Must be based in Lusaka or willing to work in Lusaka.
  • A valid driver’s license will be an added advantage.
