Chibanje Chemicals and Engineering Ltd is a construction chemicals and equipment manufacturing company based in Kafue. We manufacture tile fix, paints, roofing sheets, grouts, varnish, spirit of salt, anti-termites among other construction and home care products.
We are looking for a highly motivated Mechanical Fitter to join our team in the engineering and maintenance department.
Mechanical fitter will provide detailed inspection, troubleshooting, oversight, and diagnosis of operational problems in plant and systems including sand driers, screen machines, mixing machines, packaging machines, roofing sheet making machines, and paint making machines among others
Mechanical Fitter Duties & Responsibilities
responsibilities for this position include:
1. Efficient disassembly/reassembly in line with productivity improvements and capacity planning (achieve the required efficiency and utilization standards for production – performance/assembly to build times)
2. Support, lead, train and mentor others (including apprentices)
3. Participation and involvement with Company Quality Procedure and Standards, ensuring timely identification, communication and recording of all quality issues
4. Responsible for undertaking maintenance , repairs, minor improvement and extra works across the site
5. Work on own and as part of a team carrying out routine PPM, reactive and minor repair works as assigned by the Workflow team ensuring all deliverable SLA/KPI targets are met or exceeded
6. Communicate with the Engineering Departments when support is required to ensure all tasks can be achieved within prescribed requirements Indentify extra work requirements and provide details of required material and labour estimate to enable client quotes to be issued
7. Efficient assembly in line with productivity improvements and capacity planning (achieve the required efficiency and utilization standards for production – performance / assembly to build times)
8. Participate in any CIP (Continuous Improvement) activities, including workshops and discussion groups relating to quality, cost and delivery performance
9. Refurbishment of Filling, Screwcapping & Corking system/equipment
10. Root Cause Analysis any form of failure or quality issues with the process of filling wine
Desired Skills
- Fault finding on mechanical equipment
- Comply to safety standards/codes and ensure world class housekeeping
- Identify all unsafe conditions and notify management
- Planning, organising and co-ordination skills
- Be a team player, motivated self-starter and willing to learn
- Able to make proper business decisions

The diploma or degree is mechanical engineering or equivalent.
