MECHANICAL FITTER – MPONGWE FLOURMILL (X1)

The Required Skills for this Role include:

  • Repairing all equipment following information from manufacturer’s specifications using hand tools and test requirements.
  • Participating in the installation or modification of plant equipment.
  • Carrying out daily inspections of the plant equipment in order to ascertain any deviations.
  • Undertaking repair works involving stripping, checking, removal/replacing worn out parts, filters, tightening loose belts and nuts and checking general mechanical conditions in order to achieve the desired machine and factory efficiencies.
  • Carry out machine serving, changing of oil, filters, worn out parts, greasing, lubricating and checking the mechanical condition of plant equipment in order to prevent excessive wear and tear.
  • Preparing lists of spares or materials is required and submit to the superiors.
  • Adhering to planned maintenance schedules for all plant equipment and complete the maintenance schedule log and job cards.
  • Completing filling of job cards.
  • Carrying out preventive maintenance of all milling machines.
  • Liasing with laboratory and milling personnel on issues concerning quality.
  • Completing all maintenance related documentations before knocking off.
  • Adhering to the company policies. i.e. Food safety policies, safety policies, quality policy and grievance procedure.
  • Attending weekly tools box meetings and food safety meetings.
  • Wearing personal protective clothing to the requirements of the job and in accordance of the factory Act. i.e. Work suite, safety boots and gloves.
  • Adhering to the company policies. i.e. food safety policies, safety policies, quality policies, environmental policies and grievance policy.
  • Performing any other task assigned to him by the supervisor.
  • Will be responsible for maintaining a hygiene environment.

The Required Qualifications are:

  • Full Grade 12 Certificate
  • 3 years of experience in manufacturing/ processing roles, demonstrating progressively increasing responsibility, with success in all or most of the sub-functional areas.
  • Diploma/ Craft Certificate qualification in Mechanical Engineering.

The Required Attributes include:

  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Strong leadership experience
  • Industrial Affairs experience.
