Silondwa Engineering Limited invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced members of the public for the following vacant position:

MINING ENGINEER (X1)

Job Purpose

To provide support to and manage mining operations, create estimates for mining projects, design mines, and assist with mining equipment selection.

Main duties

a)    Conducts initial surveys, risk assessments and environmental impact assessments on potential sites to assess whether plans are workable.

b)    Selects locations and plans underground or surface mining operations, specifying processes, labour usage, and equipment that will result in safe, economical, and environmentally sound extraction of minerals and ores

c)    Implements and monitors the development of mines, facilities, systems, or equipment.

d)    Inspects mining areas for unsafe structures, equipment, and working conditions.

e)     Examines maps, deposits, drilling locations, or mines to determine the location, size, accessibility, contents, value, and potential profitability of deposits.

F) Prepares, Manages budgets and costing as well as organizing supplies.

g)  Determines or develops mineral location, extraction, and production methods, based on factors such as safety, cost, and deposit characteristics.

h) Prepares technical reports for use by mining, engineering, and management   staff.

i)  Monitors and evaluates  mine production rates to assess operational effectiveness.

J) Prepares schedules, reports, and estimates of the costs involved in developing and operating mines.

k)    Selects or devises materials-handling methods and equipment to transport ore, waste materials, and mineral products

l)      Liaises with and advising managerial and technical staff (geologists, engineers etc.)

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

Grade 12 school certificate
Bachelors of science in Mining Engineering.
Experience in working in mechanised & non-mechanised mining operations.
Minimum 4 years work experience in Mining operations
Holder of the Zambian Mine Blasting Licence for all operations
Knowledge in Mine Planning software.
Member of EIZ
First Aid Certificate added advantage.
