Position Summary:

This role is responsible for driving, managing, and optimizing the day-to-day credit operations of the microfinance institution. The incumbent will specifically focus on designing and deploying agricultural financial products, managing field loan officers, mitigating seasonal risks, and expanding the company’s agricultural portfolio while ensuring high loan repayment rates.

Key Responsibilities

Portfolio & Credit Management: Oversee the appraisal, approval, and disbursement of agricultural loans (I.e. crop, livestock, value chain financing). Ensure loan structures match agricultural cash flows

Team Leadership: Lead, train, and supervise field supervisors and agricultural loan officers to ensure productivity, adherence to credit policy, and high-quality customer service.

Risk & Delinquency Mitigation: Monitor the Portfolio at Risk (PAR) closely. Implement proactive strategies to manage defaults, especially during climate shocks, pest outbreaks, or market volatility.

Product Development: Refine and customize microfinance products to align with agricultural cycles, input supply timelines, and buyer contract structures.

Operational Compliance: Ensure all branch and field operations strictly comply with the company’s internal credit policies, central bank regulations, and consumer protection laws.

Value Chain Partnerships: Collaborate with ag-input suppliers, off-takers (buyers), and agricultural extension agents to de-risk loans through structured value-chain finance.

Experience

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agribusiness, Agricultural Economics, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. An MBA or professional microfinance certification is a strong plus.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in the microfinance or credit sector, with at least 3 years in a managerial or supervisory role supervising credit operations.
