Eastern Tropical Fruit Company Limited (ETF) is jointly owned by Zambia Fruit Company and Vitaplus Foods Limited, under the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC). The Company operates a hybrid fruit and vegetable processing plant located in Katete District, Eastern Province of Zambia.

Role Overview:

The Packaging Operator is responsible for the final stage of the production process, ensuring products are correctly packaged, labelled, and prepared for dispatch. This role involves operating packaging machinery, conducting quality checks, and maintaining a clean and efficient work area.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Operate and monitor packaging equipment, including filling machines, labelling machines, and carton sealers.
  • Load packaging materials, such as bottles, labels, and cartons, into the machinery.
  • Monitor the production line for jams, misaligned labels, or incorrect packaging.
  • Conduct regular checks to ensure products are packaged according to specifications.
  • Inspect packaged products for defects, damage, or improper sealing.
    Report any quality issues to the Production Supervisor immediately.
  • Perform routine cleaning and sanitation of all packaging equipment and the surrounding area.
  • Conduct basic preventative maintenance checks on machinery.
  • Ensure the work area is kept clean, organized, and free of hazards.
  • Adhere to all health and safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Follow all food safety and hygiene regulations to prevent product contamination.
  • Report any safety concerns or incidents to the supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience

  • Grade 12 Certificate with five (5) O Levels.
  • Diploma in Food Science, Food Processing, Production Management, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience working in a manufacturing or food processing environment.
  • Knowledge of food safety and quality standards such as HACCP and ISO 22000.
  • Membership with a recognized professional regulatory body
  • Proven ability to operate and maintain industrial machinery.
