About the Plant Engineer Role – Plant Engineer Jobs in Lusaka
This permanent, full-time position reports directly to the Brewery Manager and Engineering Manager. The Plant Engineer will play a critical role in overseeing asset management, maintenance, safety, and operational reliability across our brewing, packaging, and utilities systems.
Responsibilities or duties
Asset & Engineering Management: Lead asset management strategies, ensure integrity of manufacturing systems and instrumentation, maintain calibration of site equipment, and enforce compliance with engineering standards.
Safety, Health & Environment (SHE): Guarantee full compliance with SHE legislation, uphold high standards of housekeeping and safe working practices, and act as the accountable person for SHE across brewery operations and depots.
Maintenance & Reliability: Optimize planned maintenance and asset care programs, conduct failure analysis with corrective actions, and ensure plant reliability exceeds 95% across all operations.
Project & Financial Management: Manage small engineering projects within budget and timelines, develop and control departmental budgets, and implement procurement procedures aligned with company policies.
People Management: Lead and develop engineering teams, promote skills development including PLC and asset care competencies, and foster a positive industrial relations environment.
Performance Metrics and Expectations
- Maintain plant reliability above 95%
- Keep maintenance cost per hectolitre below $0.80
- Ensure utilities cost remains under $0.50 per hectolitre
- Achieve GMP/5S and safety audit scores exceeding 80%
- Deliver engineering projects successfully within budget and schedule
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
- Registered Engineer status (mandatory)
- Additional business qualifications are an advantage
Experience needed
- 3 to 5 years’ experience in Brewing, Packaging, or Utilities Engineering
- Previous exposure to FMCG environments preferred
- Strong knowledge of modern asset care and maintenance systems
