JOB DETAILS:
Renaisense facilitates life transformation and optimisation of individuals and groups through counselling, psychotherapy, psychiatry, coaching and training. Renaisense is looking to expand its child-psychotherapy services and is looking at recruiting a very experienced Play Therapist to join and strengthen the team. .

Performance responsibilities:
The Play therapist will conduct play therapy sessions with children and young adolescents, suffering from a range of psychological difficulties and complex life experiences – including for example depression, anxiety, ADHD, experiences of abuse, grief, family breakdown, domestic violence and trauma. Furthermore the play therapist will facilitate parent-child sessions and provide parental support.

Minimum qualifications and experience
• Master-level degree specializing in play-based interventions (Social Work/Psychology or related field).
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive, demonstrable and related experience rendering child play-based interventions (individual or in groups) at NGO’s, Schools, private practice or other institutions.
• In depth knowledge of the Gestalt play therapeutic process, child protection and Safeguarding policies.
• Demonstrable knowledge and experience in the use of the Gestalt play therapeutic techniques (including sensory and bodily contact-making, sense of self, emotional awareness, self-nurturing, projective emotional expression including the Rosebush, sand tray and empty chair techniques).
• Must have experience in using different forms of play in the therapeutic process ( such as socio-dramatic play, biblioplay, creative play, role play, mastery play). • Experience in rendering parental guidance and support sessions.
• Must have expert knowledge on child development and behaviour.
• Demonstrable experience in child assessment and treatment planning.
• Experience in working with children with a range of social and emotional challenges (including children with ADHD, symptoms of depression, anxiety, impairment, children who have gone through traumatic experiences).
• Proven ability to serve a multicultural community and have worked in multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience in capacity building, training of the trainers, group facilitation and presenting workshops and seminars.
• Knowledge of research study design and data collection specifically in the child mental health and psychosocial support sector.
• Expert communication skills in English (written and verbal) with a demonstrated ability to synthesize materials and assessments into key learnings and insights for non-experts, in a cross-cultural environment.
• Practical experience in providing thought leadership, analytical thinking, and translating ideas into long and short term organizational strategy.
• Pro-active self-starter that is able to develop and complete work plans independently in a complex, dynamic environment.
• Must be able to provide at least two professional references and one character reference.
