Role Description

This is a full time, on site position based in Lusaka, Zambia.

The Procurement Engineer will be responsible for sourcing and procuring industrial equipment, engineering materials and technical products in accordance with project specifications, company standards and client requirements.

The role includes supplier identification and evaluation, preparation and management of Requests for Quotation (RFQs), commercial negotiations, purchase order management, supplier performance monitoring and coordination of deliveries to ensure projects are completed on schedule and within budget.

The successful candidate will work closely with engineering, projects, finance and operations teams to ensure procurement activities support technical compliance, commercial objectives and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Source industrial valves, mechanical equipment, electrical components, instrumentation and engineering materials from qualified local and international suppliers.
  • Prepare and manage Requests for Quotation (RFQs) and evaluate technical and commercial proposals.
  • Negotiate pricing, commercial terms, delivery schedules and supplier agreements.
  • Issue and manage purchase orders through delivery and project close out.
  • Develop and maintain strategic supplier relationships.
  • Monitor supplier performance based on quality, cost, delivery and service.
  • Review engineering drawings, specifications and bills of materials to ensure technical compliance.
  • Support tender preparation, commercial proposals and engineering procurement activities.
  • Maintain procurement records, supplier databases and purchasing documentation.
  • Identify opportunities for cost optimization, supplier development and supply chain improvement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management or a related discipline.
  • Minimum seven years of procurement experience within mining, manufacturing, EPC, power or industrial sectors.
  • Experience sourcing industrial valves, engineering equipment and technical products is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of procurement regulations, corporate governance and public tender procedures will be an advantage.
  • Experience using ERP or procurement management systems.
