Background
The Davis & Shirtliff Group, founded in 1946, is the region’s leading supplier of water and energy solutions. Headquartered in Kenya, the Group operates through a network of branches and subsidiaries across Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Rwanda, South Sudan, Somalia, Zimbabwe, DRC and Burundi and employing over 1,000 highly trained professionals. The Group is seeking to recruit a Procurement Officer based in Lusaka, Zambia. The successful candidate will report to the Supply Director and will be responsible for, among other duties:
Roles and Responsibilities
- Source and evaluate suppliers to ensure value for money and quality service delivery.
- Prepare and process purchase orders and procurement documentation.
- Obtain and analyse quotations and negotiate favourable terms with suppliers.
- Monitor supplier performance and maintain effective supplier relationships.
- Reconcile vendor accounts
- Ensure compliance with company procurement policies and relevant regulations.
- Coordinate inventory replenishment and stock management activities.
- Prepare procurement reports and maintain accurate purchasing records.
- Support contract administration and vendor management processes.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Purchasing and Supply, Procurement, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of five (5) years’ proven experience in procurement and purchasing.
- Valid membership with the Zambia Institute of Purchasing and Supply (ZIPS).
- Strong knowledge of procurement principles and supplier relationship management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and Intergrated ERP sytems
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- High level of integrity and attention to detail.
Critical Competencies
- Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Strong team player with excellent negotiation, interpersonal and presentation skills.
- Ability to prioritise work, manage multiple deadlines and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
- Adaptability to evolving business and regulatory environments.
- Self-driven with high levels of professionalism, discipline, integrity and attention to detail.
