The procurement Officer will assist the Procurement Manager to oversee the entire procurement process, ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of necessary goods and services in line with company policies and applicable regulations. This role is crucial for maintaining operational efficiency and managing relationships with suppliers.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supplier Management: Identify. Evaluate, and establish relationships with new and existing vendors and suppliers.
- Negotiation: Negotiate prices, contracts, and payment terms with suppliers to achieve the best value for the company.
- Sourcing: Research and compare suppliers based on product quality, pricing, reliability, and delivery schedules.
- Order processing: Facilitate the purchasing process, manage procurement paperwork, and ensure smooth transactions.
- Inventory & Logistics: Monitor inventory levels and ensure timely delivery of goods to support company.
- Compliance: Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies, Zambian and international regulations.
- Reporting: Maintain records of procurement activities and provide regular reports to Management.
ACADEMIC QUALIFICATION AND TECHNICAL SKILLS
- Diploma in Procurement & Supply Management, or Supply Chain Management or related field is often preferred.
- Member of the Zambia Institute of procurement and Supply (ZIPS)
- Minimum of three (3) Years’ experience in a similar role will be an added advantage
- Proven experience in procurement or supply chain management.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
- Ability to research, analyse, and compare suppliers’ options.
- Strong organisation and time management skills
- Proficiency in relevant software and procurement systems.
- Diploma/certificate in industrial Engineering will be an added advantage
