Department: Rehabilitation and Research
Reports to: Senior Rehabilitation Officer
Location: Lusaka
Duration of work: Permanent and Pensionable
Job Purpose
To facilitate service delivery for persons with disabilities in the realms of rehabilitation, resettlement, employment, training, and empowerment, thereby harnessing their potential for seamless inclusion into mainstream society.
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate the registration of Organizations of and for persons with disabilities (OPDs) and institutions providing rehabilitation services to persons with disabilities
- Ensure that the Disability Management Information System (DMIS) is functional and used by the Agency and its partners for expected results, learning and accountability
- In collaboration with ZAMSTAT, keep and maintain statistical records relating to disability issues for purposes of planning, promotion, administration, monitoring and evaluation of services for Persons with Disabilities as well as submission of progress reports to relevant authorities
- Monitor the provision of services to persons with disabilities and the implementation of the Act and any policies or national strategies on disability.
- Conduct inquiries into any matter relating to the welfare, employment, habilitation and rehabilitation of persons with disabilities
- Develop awareness programs on the prevention and management of disability issues.
- Create networks with other organizations, government, partners and donors for purposes of advantageous collaboration, best practices and information sharing.
- Ensure timely preparation of quarterly and annual reports as well as annual budgets and operational plans .
- Facilitate the preparation and coordination of the commemoration of national disability calendar day
- Ensure registered OPDs and DSOs are uploaded on the ZAPD website.
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE
1. Grade 12 or GCE certificate
2. Degree in Social work or any other related Social Sciences
3. 1 year work experience
4. Experience in counselling will be an added advantage
OTHER ATTRIBUTES
1. Excellent knowledge and sensitivity to issues of Persons with Disabilities
2. Strong interpersonal and communication skills
3. Strong written skills in project proposal
4. Provide psycho-social counselling to Persons with Disabilities
5. Ability to work in stressful environment
