Position Overview

The Retail Support Officer is responsible for overseeing all retail outlets in Lusaka and ensuring that retail operations run efficiently. This role supervises Retail Assistants, ensuring adherence to job responsibilities and company standards. The Retail Support Officer will track sales performance, train Retail Assistants, manage stock requisitions and inventory, and facilitate effective communication between retail outlets and management.

Key Responsibilities

Retail Operations Oversight:

  • Supervise all Retail Assistants, ensuring adherence to job responsibilities.
  • Monitor sales performance at each retail outlet and implement improvement strategies.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of sales systems and processes to support the retail team.
  • Step in to support retail operations by temporarily covering Retail Assistants when necessary.

Staff Management & Training:

  • Train and mentor Retail Assistants to enhance their skills and effectiveness.
  • Assist in the recruitment and onboarding of Retail Assistants.
  • Manage leave schedules to ensure business continuity.

Stock & Inventory Management:

  • Oversee stock levels at all retail outlets and ensure proper stock management.
  • Monitor stock movements online and conduct physical inventory checks.
  • Process stock requisitions on behalf of Retail Assistants and ensure timely deliveries.

Customer Engagement & Sales Growth:

  • Ensure high-quality customer interaction and satisfaction at all retail outlets.
  • Address customer complaints and escalate unresolved issues when necessary.
  • Work closely with the Sales and After-Sales teams to align retail strategies with broader company goals.

Communication & Reporting:

  • Serve as the communication link between Retail Assistants and Sales Management or other departments.
  • Prepare and submit regular reports on retail performance, sales trends, and operational challenges.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Education: Degree in Sales, Business Administration, Retail Management, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years’ experience in retail operations or sales supervision.
  • Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in retail sales systems, inventory management, and data analysis.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven ability to supervise and train retail staff.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong customer service orientation with excellent communication abilities.
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple retail locations efficiently.
  • Problem-Solving: Quick thinking and adaptability to operational challenges.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Sales Growth: Performance improvement across retail outlets.
  • Inventory Accuracy: Efficient stock management and reduced losses.
  • Customer Satisfaction: Positive customer feedback and minimal complaints.
  • Staff Performance: Well-trained and effective Retail Assistants.
