Eastern Tropical Fruit Company Limited (ETF) is jointly owned by Zambia Fruit Company and Vitaplus Foods Limited, under the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC). The Company operates a hybrid fruit and vegetable processing plant located in Katete District, Eastern Province of Zambia.
Role Overview:
The Reverse Osmosis (RO) Operator is responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining the Reverse Osmosis plant to produce high-quality, purified water for the factory’s production processes. This role ensures the RO system operates efficiently and that the water meets all required quality standards.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
RO Plant Operation:
- Start up, shut down, and monitor the RO plant according to the operational schedule.
- Adjust and control system parameters such as pressure, flow rates, and temperature to ensure optimal performance.
- Monitor the RO plant’s performance metrics, including water quality, salt rejection, and permeate flow.
Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
- Perform routine maintenance tasks on the RO system, including cleaning and replacing filters and membranes.
- Conduct preventive maintenance checks to ensure the plant operates smoothly and efficiently.
- Identify and troubleshoot operational issues, such as pressure drops or low water quality, and perform corrective actions.
Water Quality and Reporting:
- Conduct regular water quality tests on both the feed water and the permeate (purified water) using laboratory equipment.
- Record and report all operational data, test results, and maintenance activities.
- Ensure that the purified water meets the specified quality standards for food processing.
Safety and Compliance:
- Adhere to all health and safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Ensure proper handling and storage of chemicals used in the RO process.
- Report any safety concerns or equipment malfunctions to the supervisor immediately.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma in Water Technology, Food Processing, or related field.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience operating RO systems in a food processing setup.
- Understanding of RO mechanics, sanitation procedures, and quality control.
- Membership with a recognized professional regulatory body
