JOB DETAILS:

• Qualifications: Diploma in Safety or Occupational Health and Safety from a recognized institution.
• Experience Required: 2+ years (Junior level; Female applicants encouraged).

Role Overview:
The Safety Head ensures the implementation of safety protocols and standards in underground mining operations, fostering a culture of safety among workers. This junior-level role encourages female applicants to promote diversity in the mining sector.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and enforce safety policies and procedures in line with Zambian mining regulations.
• Conduct safety inspections and audits in underground areas to identify and mitigate hazards.
• Train workers on safety practices, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Investigate incidents and near-misses, preparing reports with recommendations to prevent recurrence.
• Promote safety awareness through campaigns, toolbox talks, and training sessions.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards.

Competencies:

• Knowledge of occupational health and safety in underground mining.
• Ability to conduct risk assessments and safety audits.
• Communication and training skills to promote safety awareness.
• Analytical skills for incident investigation and reporting.
• Commitment to diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
