Job Purpose

To ensure that health and safety protocols are adhered to at all times and that staff members are adequately informed on workplace safety procedures in order to maintain a safe working environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct safety meetings, audits, and inspections to ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
  • Identify safety risks and recommend corrective actions, including follow-up assessments.
  • Assist in planning, implementing, and conducting preventive care, safety, and compliance training programs.
  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with approved manuals, internal policies, procedures, and good engineering practices.
  • Monitor new developments in occupational health and safety laws and ensure company compliance.
  • Inspect machinery and workplace equipment to identify unsafe conditions and recommend improvements.
  • Work closely with the company medical services unit to organize emergency support for injured or sick employees.
  • Conduct safety toolbox talks and presentations to educate staff on health and safety matters.
  • Investigate workplace accidents and prepare reports with recommendations for improved safety measures.
  • Develop section work plans and monitor performance within the safety function.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications and Skills

  • 3-5 years’ work experience as a safety officer.
  • Degree or Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health or any related field of study or equivalent experience from recognized institution.
  • Practicing certificate as a health and safety officer..
  • Computer literacy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organisational and coordination abilities.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Good leadership skills.
