JOB DETAILS:
Misenge Environmental & Technical Services Ltd (METS) is a multifaceted full service company with a traceable excellent knowledge and record of civil engineering, analytical services, and environmental management in the mining and mineral processing industry in Zambia. The company now seeks to recruit a Sample Preparer to prepare samples for testing in order to ensure the generation of accurate and precise analytical results that shall meet client requirements. .

Duties and responsibilities:
• Receive all samples delivered to sample preparation section by clients.
• Adhere to documented procedures for all aspects of laboratory sample preparation work, ensuring that all relevant information concerning samples is recorded, that samples are handled correctly, and that all necessary records and quality data are maintained.
• Prepare samples for analysis by crushing, splitting, milling and transferring sub-samples to sample packets while maintaining numerical order and following established quality control procedures and avoiding contamination.
• Maintain turnaround time at >90% by ensuring that daily targets are achieved.
• Deliver samples for analysis to the laboratory after preparation while maintaining numerical order.
• Operate and maintain sample preparation equipment in good working order and with due attention to maintenance schedule and report issues to the Analytical Chemist.
• Closely monitoring the usage of consumables and request for re-orders as necessary.
• Maintain good housekeeping standards in the sample preparation and associated areas.
• Ensure personal protective clothing equipment is worn in accordance with the Health & Safety policy.
• Demonstrate knowledge of Laboratory Quality Manual in order to ensure compliance at all times with the policies, procedures and associated documents which are referred to in the manual.
• Carry out any other tasks as reasonably assigned by the immediate superior and/or Senior Management.

Qualifications
• Grade 12 certificate
• At least 2 years previous experience in minerals sample preparation.

• Good numerical, communication, organizational and time management skills.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Current driver’s license will be an advantage.
• Physically fit
• Ability to work as part of a team with a high regard for safety.
• A moderate level of computer literacy.
• Demonstrated judgement, creativity, integrity and ability to problem solve.
