The successful candidates will be responsible for leading and supervising the security team to ensure the safety and protection of the organization’s personnel, property and assets. The security sergeant is responsible for implementing security protocols, coordinating patrol schedules responding to incidents and maintaining high standards of vigilance and discipline within the security unit.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct regular patrols to monitor the premises and identify any suspicious activities.
  • Utilize security cameras, alarms and other monitoring equipment to keep a vigilant eye on the area.
  • Report any unusual incidents or activities to the appropriate authorities.
  • Verify the identity of individuals entering the premises and ensure that they have proper authorization.
  • Enforce access control policies and procedures to prevent untheorized entry.
  • Maintain a record of individuals entering and exiting the premises.
  • Respond promptly to alarms, or disturbances and take appropriate action.
  • collaborate with emergency services police, fire medical when necessary.
  • conduct regular drills to ensure preparedness for various emergency scenarios.
  • Should be knowledgeable in the emergence procedure
  • Provide assistance and directions to visitors and employees.
  • maintain a professional and approachable appearance to enhance the overall experience of individuals within the premises.
  • Address inquiries and concerns in a courteous manner.
  • Document in security-related incidents, observations, and activities in detailed and accurate reports
  • compile and maintain records of security logs, incident reports and shift activity reports.

Intervene in conflicts or disputes and employ de-escalation techniques to resolve issues peacefully.

  • Collaborate with law enforcement if necessary and within the scope of responsibilities
  • conduct routine inspections to identify and address potential safety hazards.
  • Ensure that all security equipment is in working order and report any malfunctions.
  • Ensuring that all his subordinates adhere to all SHERQ related matters

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Grade 12 school certificate
  • Certificate in or formal training in security, military, or police work
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in security services, with at least 2 years in a supervisory/sergeant role
  • Experience in writing reports and handling incident investigations
  • Knowledge of Zambian Security laws and regulations
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Word and Excel)

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Strong Leadership and Supervisory Skill
  • High level of integrity, discipline, and reliability
  • Good written and verbal communication
  • Problem-solving and decision-making under pressure
  • Ability to remain calm and focused in emergencies

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Rotating shifts (day/night,) including weekends and public holidays
  • Outdoor and indoor environments
  • May involve standing or walking for long periods long periods
