Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced persons for the position of SECURITY SERGEANT under Administration.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct regular patrols to monitor the premises and identify any suspicious activities.
- Utilize security cameras, alarms and other monitoring equipment to keep a vigilant eye on the area.
- Report any unusual incidents or activities to the appropriate authorities.
- Verify the identity of individuals entering the premises and ensure that they have proper authorization.
- Enforce access control policies and procedures to prevent untheorized entry.
- Maintain a record of individuals entering and exiting the premises.
- Respond promptly to alarms, or disturbances and take appropriate action.
- Collaborate with emergency services police, fire medical when necessary.
- Conduct regular drills to ensure preparedness for various emergency scenarios.
- Should be knowledgeable in the emergence procedure
- Provide assistance and directions to visitors and employees.
- Maintain a professional and approachable appearance to enhance the overall experience of individuals within the premises.
- Address inquiries and concerns in a courteous manner.
- Document in security-related incidents, observations, and activities in detailed and accurate reports.
- Compile and maintain records of security logs, incident reports and shift activity reports.
- Intervene in conflicts or disputes and employ de-escalation techniques to resolve issues peacefully.
- Collaborate with law enforcement if necessary and within the scope of responsibilities
- Conduct routine inspections to identify and address potential safety hazards.
- Ensure that all security equipment is in working order and report any malfunctions.
- Ensuring that all his subordinates adhere to all SHERQ related matters
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Grade 12 school certificate
- Certificate in or formal training in security, military, or police work
- Minimum 5 years of experience in security services, with at least 2 years in a supervisory/sergeant role
- Experience in writing reports and handling incident investigations
- Knowledge of Zambian Security laws and regulations
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Word and Excel)
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED
- Strong Leadership and Supervisory Skills
- High level of integrity, discipline, and reliability
- Good written and verbal communication
- Problem-solving and decision-making under pressure
- Ability to remain calm and focused in emergencies
