Overview

Our client in the Agricultural sector seeks to hire two detail-oriented Seed Inspectors to ensure that all seed products meet established quality standards and regulations. As a Seed Inspector, you will play a crucial role in monitoring and assessing seed quality at various stages of production and distribution. Your findings will help maintain the integrity and safety of our seed products across the supply chain.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct inspections of seed batches at different stages, including field inspections, processing, and packaging in accordance with the requirements of the Seeds Act Regulations and the ISO 9001:2015 working instructions.
  • Timely sampling of seed for both certification and genetic purity analysis. All the sampling must be done in accordance with the current existing ISO and ISTA sampling procedures.
  • Perform quality control tests to evaluate seed purity, germination rates, and seed health.
  • Document inspection results and prepare reports for compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Ensure seed being delivered meets the minimum set standards of germination, moisture, purity and pest control management as stipulated in the Seeds Act Regulations and the ISO 9001:2015 working instructions
  • Collaborate with agronomists and production staff to implement corrective measures for any identified quality issues.
  • Provide seed production and agronomy technical back-up services to seed growers, farm managers and supervisors.
  • Educate growers and staff about quality standards and best practices in seed production and handling.
  • Maintain accurate records of seed inspections, tests, and certifications.

Requirements

  • Minimum of Diploma in Agriculture; Agricultural Science, Horticulture, or a related field.
  • Valid Seed Inspectors License is required.
  • 1 year of experience in seed inspection, quality control, or agronomy-related roles.
  • Membership with the Agriculture Institute of Zambia (AIZ)
  • Strong knowledge of seed production processes and industry regulations.
  • Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills for evaluating seed quality.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills; ability to convey technical information clearly.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office and data management tools.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Willingness to travel to various farm locations for inspections.
