Job Description
Lumwana Mining Company seeks to recruit a highly committed employee for the position of Senior Construction Superintendent Process-Plant (Fixed Term) to join the Lumwana Expansion Project Team. We are in search of an individual who can champion Barrick’s DNA by:

Reporting to the Lead Construction Plant – LEP, you will be responsible for assisting in leading the construction team, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget.
Your duties will include but are not limited to the following:
- Assist the Lead Construction Process in leading and coordinating process plant construction activities associated with mining projects, ensuring safe, efficient, and successful execution of works in accordance with project objectives.
- Support the planning, scheduling, and execution of process infrastructure construction, including crushers, conveyors, grinding circuits, flotation plants, leaching circuits, thickening systems, tailings facilities, reagent plants, pumping systems, and associated utilities.
- Supervise day-to-day process construction activities to ensure compliance with approved engineering drawings, construction specifications, company standards, environmental requirements, and mining industry regulations.
- Monitor construction progress against project schedules and milestones, identifying risks, constraints, and interface issues that may impact project delivery and recommending appropriate mitigation measures.
- Coordinate construction activities across multiple disciplines, including mechanical, piping, structural, electrical, instrumentation, civil, and commissioning teams to ensure seamless integration of process plant systems.
- Work closely with engineering, procurement, operations, maintenance, contractors, consultants, and project stakeholders to ensure alignment and effective execution of construction activities.
- Conduct regular field inspections, walk-downs, and quality audits to verify that process equipment installation and construction works meet project specifications, manufacturer requirements, and quality standards.
- Oversee the installation and construction of critical process plant equipment, including mills, crushers, flotation cells, thickeners, agitators, pumps, tanks, pipelines, conveyors, and other mineral processing infrastructure.
- Support contractor management by monitoring contractor performance, productivity, manpower deployment, equipment utilization, and compliance with contractual and site requirements.
- Promote and maintain a strong Health, Safety, Environment, and Community (HSEC) culture by ensuring all personnel comply with mine site safety rules, permit-to-work systems, risk assessments, and environmental management requirements.
- Assist in identifying and managing construction risks related to process plant installation, heavy lifts, confined space work, working at heights, energized systems, and complex construction interfaces.
To be considered for the position, you must meet the following requirements:
- Full Grade Twelve (12) School Certificate.
- Bachelor’s degree in construction engineering or related field
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in construction management, including at least 7 years of hands-on site construction experience working with contractors, and a minimum of 5 years in construction management, site supervision, or owner’s/consultant’s representative roles on major projects.
- Must be a member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ)
- Proficient in construction management software, such as Primavera, MS Project, or equivalent
- Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
- Good written and verbal communication skills and Team skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and good communicator
- Must be familiar with safe working practices.
- Must have a valid Driver’s Licence.
