The Tanzania-Zambia Railway Authority (TAZARA) is a statutory institution owned by the two Governments of the United Republic of Tanzania and the Republic of Zambia on a 50/50 shareholding basis. Incorporated by the Acts of Parliament of the two contracting states, the Authority's registered office is in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, with two regional administrative centres in Mpika, Zambia and Dar es Salaam. Some positions have fallen vacant in the Zambian Region. In this regard, applications are invited from suitably qualified Zambian applicants, as follows.

Reporting to Regional General Manager
Job Purpose
To carry out internal audit investigations into accounting procedures, asset records and operations in order to recommend any timely corrective actions to safeguard the Authority from exposure to risks, in accordance with laid out policies and regulations .

Main Duties
• To examine accounting systems and procedures in the Region through physical checks and reconciliations of books of accounts in order to detect frauds;
• To determine adequacy of procedures and systems in place and recommend appropriate measures to improve and strengthen operations
• To prepare and execute audit programs in order to verify physical records of assets/property, and to ensure that registers are brought up to-date taking into account any new acquisitions of property and disposal of old ones
• To examine various books of accounts and source documents such as ledgers, cash books, trial balance sheets, bank reconciliation statements, creditors/debtors accounts, payment vouchers, receipts etc;
• To supervises the work of auditors through provision of requisite guidance/direction and verifying all work performed
• To compile and submit adhoc, monthly and annual audit reports on the operations for management information and decisions.

Qualifications
• Full Grade 12 Certificate;
• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Finance
• CPA/ACCA will be an added advantage
• Member of the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants (ZICA)
• At least three years' experience in Accounting and Finance or Audit;
• Not more than 50 years of age..
