ABOUT THE ROLE

Stimuli PR is seeking an experienced and strategic Senior Public Relations Specialist to lead high-impact corporate communications and reputation-management assignments. The role will provide senior counsel to clients, lead account delivery and strengthen the agency’s public relations offering, including work for corporate, industrial and mining-sector clients.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and lead integrated public relations and corporate communications strategies, defining objectives, audiences, key messages, channels, workplans, budgets and measurable outcomes.
  • Provide senior counsel to client executives on media strategy, reputation management, public positioning, stakeholder relations, emerging issues and crisis communication.
  • Take overall responsibility for assigned accounts, including client relationships, strategic direction, quality control, timelines, budgets and delivery standards.
  • Develop media engagement plans and maintain productive relationships with journalists, editors, broadcasters, analysts, opinion leaders and other influential media stakeholders.
  • Monitor media coverage, public sentiment, sector developments and reputational risks, and translate findings into timely advice and response recommendations.
  • Lead issues and crisis communication preparedness, including scenario planning, holding statements, media statements, question-and-answer documents, spokesperson briefs and response protocols.
  • Develop executive-profiling and thought-leadership programmes through speeches, opinion articles, interviews, speaking opportunities, biographies and leadership-positioning platforms.
  • Design and coordinate stakeholder-engagement programmes involving communities, regulators, government institutions, industry bodies, partners, employees and other priority audiences.
  • Support corporate, mining and community-relations communication by translating complex operational or technical information into clear, credible and audience-appropriate messages.
  • Write, edit and approve communication materials including strategies, messaging frameworks, press releases, media briefs, speeches, presentations, reports and stakeholder correspondence.
  • Lead media briefings, press conferences, interviews, stakeholder forums, campaign launches and other strategic communication activities.
  • Establish campaign measurement frameworks and prepare clear client reports covering outputs, outcomes, media performance, stakeholder response, lessons and recommendations.
  • Mentor junior team members and coordinate effectively with creative, digital, activations, events and client-service teams to deliver integrated campaigns.
  • Contribute to business development by identifying opportunities, preparing proposals and credentials, participating in pitches and supporting the growth of existing accounts.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Mass Communication, Journalism, Communications, Marketing or a related field; a relevant postgraduate qualification will be an advantage.
  • At least 5–8 years of relevant experience in public relations, corporate communications, media relations or a senior agency/client-side communications role.
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex communication assignments and managing senior client or executive relationships.
  • Strong practical experience in media strategy, crisis communication, issues management, stakeholder engagement and reputation management.
  • Excellent writing, editing, presentation, research and strategic-planning skills.
  • Strong knowledge of the Zambian media landscape, stakeholder environment and corporate communications context.
  • Experience in mining, industrial or other highly regulated sectors will be an added advantage.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, make sound decisions under pressure and maintain high professional standards.
