Job Description
To support the Head Ranger in delivering world-class, conservation-driven safari experiences. The Senior Ranger will play a key leadership role within the guiding team—ensuring operational excellence, safety, guest satisfaction, and alignment with the camp’s environmental and sustainability values.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver exceptional, tailored safari experiences that foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of the natural world.
- Ensure all game drives, bush walks, and nature-based activities are executed professionally and in line with safety and conservation protocols.
- Assist with handling guest feedback and resolving issues related to safari activities in a professional and timely manner.
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of local wildlife, ecology, flora, and fauna to enrich guest interactions and interpretive experiences.
- Promote sustainable tourism practices and educate guests on conservation principles.
- Uphold and enforce safety procedures across all guiding activities.
- Monitor field operations for potential risks or hazards and address them proactively.
- Ensure compliance with park rules, guiding licenses, and conservation authority requirements.
- Support wildlife monitoring and data collection for conservation reporting.
- Assist in managing the condition and readiness of safari vehicles, guiding gear, and safety equipment.
- Ensure regular maintenance checks are completed and reported.
- Deliver personalized, educational, and memorable safari experiences tailored to guest preferences.
- Ensure all guides offer consistent and professional interactions with guests.
Qualifications
Education:
- Diploma or degree in Wildlife Management, Conservation, Tourism, or related fields (preferred).
- Valid Professional Driving license and rifle handling certification.
- Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in a luxury safari lodge or wilderness guiding environment.
- Proven leadership experience within a guiding team preferred.
- Excellent communication, guest engagement, and interpretive skills.
- Strong commitment to conservation and ethical guiding practices.
Additional Information
Skills:
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
- In-depth knowledge of local ecosystems, wildlife behavior, and conservation practices.
- Proficiency in bushcraft, navigation, and vehicle maintenance.
- Excellent communication and storytelling abilities to engage guests.
- First Aid and CPR certification (essential).

Liaise with local authorities and conservation organizations when necessary. Ensure compliance with national park regulations and licenses. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of wildlife, flora, and fauna to enhance guest education. Assist in data collection and monitoring of wildlife populations as part of the camp’s conservation efforts. Work closely with other departments, including hospitality and maintenance, to ensure a seamless guest experience. Support marketing efforts by providing insights, wildlife updates, and guest testimonials. Lead, mentor, and motivate the guiding team to uphold the camp’s high standards. Schedule and coordinate daily activities for rangers, ensuring efficient team operations. Conduct regular training sessions to enhance the skills and knowledge of the guiding team. Deliver personalized, educational, and memorable safari experiences tailored to guest preferences. Ensure all guides offer consistent and professional interactions with guests. Handle guest feedback and resolve issues related to safari activities in a timely manner.
