Lumwana Mining Company seeks to recruit a highly committed employee for the position of Senior Superintendent Construction – LEP (Fixed Term Contract) to join the Project Department. We are in search of an individual who can champion Barrick’s DNA by:

Responsibilities or duties
Reporting to the Construction Manager – LEP, you will be responsible for ensuring all aspects of constructing the Processing Facility and that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest safety and quality standards.
Your duties will include but are not limited to the following:
- Assisting in daily operations on the construction site, coordinating between the EPCM, Contractors and Subcontractors to ensure smooth progression of work.
- Supervise and manage multi-disciplinary construction work activities consisting of (but not limited to): Bulk Earthworks, Civil Works, SMPP Works, E, C & I Works and Assist with Commissioning
- Ensure compliance with design specifications, regulatory requirements, and safety standards.
- Coordinate with engineers, contractors, and subcontractors to achieve project objectives.
- Review and approve contractor’s schedules, monitor progress, identify potential issues, and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate records, including daily reports, progress photos, and quality control documentation.
- Collaborate with the project team to resolve technical issues and improve construction efficiency.
- Review and approve contractors Quality Control Management Systems and monitor ongoing adherence thereto throughout the lifecycle of the project
- Ensure adherence to environmental and safety protocols.
- Lead and manage construction progress meetings
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
- Full Grade Twelve School Certificate
- Minimum of a Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or Engineering
- Member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia
- Proven experience in construction management software.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and regulations.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- MS software and Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Must have a valid Driver’s License
Experience needed
A minimum of 10 years construction management experience in the mining industry working on major capital expansion projects as a construction superintendent in similar projects, particularly in brown field projects (Primary Crushers/Overland Conveyors/Transfer Stations/Stockpile Tunnels/Mills/In-Plant Conveyors/Flotation Banks/etc.)
