We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Site Supervisor specialized in haul and load operations within the mining sector. Reporting directly to the Site Manager, the successful candidate will oversee daily site activities, ensuring compliance with operational protocols and safety standards. This role requires a keen understanding of mining operations and a comprehensive background in managing haul and load activities. The Site Supervisor is tasked with representing the site on operational matters, coordinating closely with team members, and serving as the primary point of contact for all site operational issues.

Responsibilities:

The key responsibilities of the Site Supervisor include:

  • Supervising daily haul and load operations to ensure optimal efficiency and safety within the mining site.
  • Monitoring equipment performance and coordinating with maintenance teams to address issues promptly.
  • Ensuring adherence to mining industry protocols, company safety policies, and regulatory standards.
  • Collaborating directly with the Site Manager to develop and implement operational strategies.
  • Conducting regular site inspections, risk assessments, and briefings with onsite personnel.
  • Reviewing operational data and performance metrics to optimize scheduling and productivity on the site.
  • Leading incident investigations and implementing corrective measures following any operational discrepancies.
  • Maintaining detailed records and reports regarding site performance and daily operational milestones.
  • Coordinating with logistics and transport teams to streamline the flow of materials throughout the site.

Qualifications and Experience

The ideal candidate will possess a robust background in mining sector operations, with specific experience in haul and load processes. The minimum qualification criteria for this role include:

  • Full Grade 12 School Certificate with five (5) credits or better
  • A minimum of a Diploma and/or bachelor’s degree in mining engineering, or a related field.
  • Relevant certifications in heavy equipment operation, safety management, and first aid are mandatory.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in supervisory roles within mining operations, with at least 3 years directly involved in haul and load operations.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in managing on-site operations and maintaining compliance with mining safety regulations.
  • Strong leadership capabilities with proven experience in efficiently managing teams and resolving on-site issues.
  • Advanced knowledge of mining sector protocols, operational best practices, and risk management processes.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with a solid ability to work under pressure and manage unexpected challenges.a
